STAR RAFTS are well known for their easy handling and maneuverability. Many
commercial river guides, as well as private paddlers,
have told us that STARS are their favorite boats because
they handle so well. The unique design of our gradual
bow and stern rise, along with a slightly raised floor
for improved tracking, have given STAR this reputation.
BUG SERIES
THE THEORY BEHIND THE BUG SERIES
The two standard and three self-bailing models that make up the BUG SERIES are truly the boats of the new millennium! Are they rafts? Are they catarafts? No, they're a combination! From the top, they look like a raft. From the bottom, they look like a cataraft with a high floor. We combined the best of both worlds into one, and the BUG SERIES was created. Their unique design makes them one of a kind. The "BUGS" have the speed, maneuverability, and surfing performance of a cataraft; while at the same time providing the comfort, convenience, and splash protection of a raft. Row or paddle them for super fun. While appropriate for experienced rafters for use on Class III – IV+ rivers, the variety of sizes and the speed of the "BUGS" makes them a dream for families or small groups to use on slower and milder rivers.
CONSTRUCTION OF THE SELF-BAILING MODELS
Let us try to explain the mysteries of the self-bailing models of the BUG SERIES. We constructed the high main tubes 24"~ 26" in diameter, rapidly diminishing at the bow and stern, with a minimal number of seams. Then we mounted the heavy duty, super tough, 4000 denier floor, 12"~ 14" up from the bottom of the tubes, in the middle of each "BUG". For added strength and durability, the main side tubes are constructed from extra heavy duty 2200 denier PVC. Further protection is provided by the extra wide 14" StarTrack on the bottom runners, extending from bow to stern. All thwarts are removable (Quik - E attachment).
SELECT SERIES
Each of the four models in the STAR SELECT SERIES is
fully wrapped up to the side strake with an additional
layer of 1100 denier fabric. The heavy-duty 1.8mm 4000
denier floor material is the toughest in the
industry. StarTrack wear patches extend from bow to
stern on the bottom runners for added protection. Extra
D-Rings have been added for your convenience. For the
Select Series we have used the maintenance-free Leafield
inflation and air release valves.
The self-bailing floor, with heavily reinforced drain
holes on the sides, is permanently attached so there
are no bulky ropes or time-consuming lacing. The floor
design consists of a zipped-in bladder. Constructed
of urethane coated nylon material, this air bladder
is completely heat welded.
Two thwarts are standard with each raft. Additional
thwarts may be purchased separately.
STARLIGHT SERIES
Designed for outfitters for their raft rental fleet, the STARLITE SERIES is built to take abuse, yet offers quality at an unbeatable price. The four models in this series have been very popular with both outfitters and individual boaters. And fishermen have discovered that the Starlite rafts make an excellent, inexpensive fishing boat.
Not 840 denier, but 1100 denier for the main tubes! We didn't sacrifice quality to make this series. The 4000 denier standard floor (the strongest on the market) is tightly stretched and raised 2"~3" above the bottom of the side tubes for excellent tracking. StarTrack on the bottom runners and the side rub strake give added protection. The new style Halkey-Roberts valves are used on the STARLITE SERIES.
What is most amazing about these four models is the PRICE! STAR did it again!!! A great value for outfitters, as well as for private boaters who are looking for a tough, affordable, standard floor raft.
